National Security Memorandum 22 released

14 May 2024 4:37 PM | Diane Weidenkopf (Administrator)

On April 30, 024, the President signed National Security Memorandum Critical Infrastructure and Resilience (NSM-22) to secure and enhance the resilience of US critical infrastructure.  NSM replaced the 2013 Presidential Policy Directive # 13, Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience that designated the 16 critical infrastructure sectors that are the focal point of the Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act of 2022 (CIRCIA).  The NSM-22 designates the Department of Homeland Security to lead the effort to secure US critical infrastructure, with the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) acting as the National Coordinator for Security and Resilience. It also directs the US Intelligence Community to collect, produce, and share intelligence and information with federal, State, Local, and owners and operators to critical infrastructure partners and requires a federal department or agency as the Sector Risk Management Agency (SRMA) for each of the 16 critical infrastructure sectors.
