FEMA announces funding available under Assistance to Firefighters Grant Programs (AFGP)

18 Jun 2025 2:53 PM | Diane Weidenkopf (Administrator)

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that funding is now available under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Programs (AFGP).   $36 million is available through the FY 2024 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) grant program, designed to help strengthen community fire prevention programs and support scientific research on innovations that improve firefighter safety, health and well-being.  $360 million is available through the FY 2024 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant program.  That program is designed to assist local fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest organizations across the nation to help increase or maintain the number of trained firefighters available in their communities.  The application period for both grant programs will close at 4PM CDT on July 3, 2025.
