2026 EMAT Symposium Pre-Conference Training

Enhance Your Skills With TEEX Courses in College Station

EMAT is excited to partner with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) to offer two high-value pre-conference training opportunities ahead of the 2026 EMAT Symposium. These courses provide emergency management professionals with advanced leadership skills, critical infrastructure knowledge, and practical tools to better support their communities.

Participants may register for one of the following TEEX trainings:

MGT-340: Crisis Leadership & Decision-Making

Strengthen Your Ability to Lead Under Pressure

This course prepares emergency managers, public safety leaders, and key decision-makers to perform effectively during crises. Using real-world scenarios and facilitated discussions, MGT-340 focuses on:

  • Crisis communication and public messaging

  • Decision-making in high-stress environments

  • Leadership principles during disaster response

  • Coordinating across agencies and jurisdictions

  • Building trust and maintaining situational awareness

This course is ideal for emergency management officials, department leaders, elected officials, and anyone who may lead teams during a major incident.

MGT-414: Critical Infrastructure Resilience & Community Lifelines

Protect the Systems Your Community Depends On

MGT-414 provides a deep dive into the resilience of key systems—transportation, utilities, communication networks, health, and more. Participants will learn to identify vulnerabilities, strengthen interdependencies, and support continuity during emergencies.

Key topics include:

  • Understanding FEMA’s Community Lifelines

  • Risk analysis and infrastructure protection

  • Business continuity and essential service planning

  • Public-private sector collaboration

  • Enhancing local resilience through strategic planning

This course is recommended for emergency managers, public works, utilities, planners, private sector partners, and continuity professionals.
